KWP (Nairobi) -The Senator for Kwale and former KANU Chief Whip, Boy Juma Boy has passed away, at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, after a short illness.
Senator Boy was taken ill a few days ago and received treatment in Mombasa prior being transferred to the Intensive care Unit at the Nairobi Aga Khan Hospital.
Senator Boy is believed to have succumb to his death due to complications stemming from elevated blood pressure.
Boy was a long term politician who joined parliament as the youngest member in 1983 after taking over as the MP for Kwale central following the sudden death of his late father Juma Boy. Hon Boy later rose through the party ranks to become the KANU government chief whip in parliament undr the Moi rule.
Boy's late father, Juma Boy was at the time of his death the long serving Secretary General of Cotu and MP for Kwale Central.
Boy will be remembered by many for his oratory skills and story telling during political rallies that often left the crowds in laughter.
For those who have known him since his school days, many attribute Boy's oratory skills to his accomplishments as a stage actor in dram festivals that once won accolades as the best actor during the inter schools dram competitions.
Boy's death has left a vacuum in Kwale politics and will certainly change the makeup of the 2017 political landscape in the county, forcing all parties to go back to the drawing board.
As per the Islamic traditions, Senator Boy is expected to be buried tomorrow, in his native Kwale county.
