NAIROBI - Security has been beefed up in Ruai area on the outskirts of the capital Nairobi after six people were hacked to death in a land row.
The six were among a group of IDPs who were last year resettled on the land under contention after they fled from their homes following the 2008 post election violence.
The residents living in the area dubbed Mathare North village were attacked by a group of youth armed with pangas and pistols.
By the time police arrived in the area, a total of six bodies were scattered around the contentious piece of land with several others nursing serious injuries.
The IDPs say the attack stems from an ongoing land row that stems from some people opposing their resettlement on the land.
They say they are now living in fear, not knowing who their attackers are or when they would strike again.
