MOMBASA - Transport Minister Ali Chirau Mwakwere has lost his Matuga parliamentary seat through an election petition against him filed by voter Ayub Juma Mwakesi.
Mombasa high court Judge Mohamed Ibrahim who delivered the ruling declared his election null and void.
The Judge said evidence produced in court showed that the entire exercise was marred by irregularities. Security was tight at the court precincts as the Judge made the ruling.
Mwakwere is the first minister and the third MP to lose his sit through a petition.
